This is my final version of the speedometer that I will use in my HUD interface. The way that I made the lines to show the speed was using the rotate tool. I put the blue marker in the middle of the circle. The gradient acts as a replacement for the numbers as the gradient acts as an indication of variation in speed.
Then using ‘ALT’ click the centre of the circle and then the menu appears. Entering ‘360/60’ means that the lines will appear 60 times around the point of the circle, pressing copy and then using ‘CMD+D’ it will duplicate the line 60 times.
The pointer was made using a triangle and a circle, merged together using the pathfinder tool. The blue gradient was created overlapping two circles and then using the eraser tool to erase the lines at the bottom that were not included in the gradient. This gradient shows the increase in speed; I decided not to use any numbers because in order for the numbers to be seen clearly the icon itself has to be large. This scenario means that the speedometer would be larger in size compared to the other icons on the interface, thus obstructing the screen. Also the player would be more interested in whats happening during the race than focusing on what MPH the car itself is going at.
