10 distinct examples of 2d animation

These are cartoons, films and music videos that feature 2d animation.

Avengers Assemble- The animated cartoon series

 

This series is based on the marvel comic series ‘Avengers Assemble’. The cartoon series uses 2d animation, and the art style is comic-like as these characters are from comics.

Spongebob Squarepants

This nickelodeon show is based underwater, the animators bring to life personified squid, crabs and other fish.

The Simpsons

The Simpsons is a cartoon televised on TV which was first created in 1989. The technique in which the characters are animated has barley changed since the show was first aired.

Tom and Jerry 

Tom and Jerry first aired on televisions in 1945, and the show still uses the conventional 2d animation style that it has used since 1945.

Zombie Hotel

 

This cartoon was created in 2006 and is based on a Zombie hotel. Its animation style reflects the zombie and ghoul theme as its style is more rugged and does not have a clean finish to its lines as another show such as Avengers Assemble.

Aladdin

This disney film uses the traditional style of simple line drawings to create these beloved characters. Other disney films to include this style of animation include The Lion King, Little Mermaid and Aristocats.

Attack on Titan 

 

 

 

This anime series, uses 2d animation to create a 3d impression in some fight scenes. The series focuses around ‘titans’ that are threatening to destroy the last remnants of the human population.

What’s New Scooby-Doo

This series of Scooby-Doo aired from 2002-2005, but the 2D animation has been changed to 3D in the newer series ‘Scooby Doo Mystery Incorperated’, and the characters have been altered slightly and therefore look different compared to the ones featured in the pictures above.

Mika- Relax, take it easy

This animation is featured in Mika’s music video, it features  vibrant colours and simple geometric shapes such as lines, waves and circles.

Kanye West- Heartless

This Kanye West music video features simple designs with patterned backgrounds and vibrant colours.
